What makes the Dead Sea so unique is the mineral composition of its water. Whereas normal sea water contains about 3% salts (most of which is sodium), the water in the Dead Sea contains 30-35% of various salts. Most of the salts in the Dead Sea are magnesium, potassium, calcium chloride and bromides, with a lesser proportion of sodium. These other salts are beneficial to the human body in many ways.
